| Hunting Camp on the Washita |
The above painting was done by my wife when we lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is a copy of a painting done by Yarnell, a famous Oklahoma painter when she studied under him for a couple of months.
Why have I included it in this blog? Simple. We have a unique opportunity in all the world to tap into Native Indian culture. Okharpman lives in the Indian capital of the USA and he has lived there for many, many years. As you watch the upcoming movies about life in the old west, you should have questions that you need to have answers to about the Indians you will be watching. Okharpman can answer all your questions concerning the Native Indians. You may also have him get a Native Indian guest lecturer to come share some insights into what it means to be a Native Indian in modern America.
Matter of fact, okharpman lives just down the road from one of my best friends and former mentors. His name is Lonnie Henderson and he is a ful-blood Kiowa Indian. We could probably talk him into doing a blog or two for us concerning Indians.
Watch your upcoming movies and focusing especially on the Indians depicted in the movies. We have an opportunity here to do something never before done - sharing cultures with people 10,000 miles away. Get you questions ready
